Ross came to Recursive 2 years ago when he was attending graduate school at UW-Madison. He graduated this spring and moved away to take a job teaching Music. We are so happy to have had Ross at the gym the last couple years, and wish him well in the future!

Why did you choose Recursive?
I started doing CrossFit in Minnesota. When I moved to Madison, I looked for a local CrossFit gym that had a community that was positive and non-threatening.

What is your favorite thing about working out at Recursive?
I love the Coaches and the personal relationships they make with each athlete.

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had the last few months?
Finding the motivation during quarantine has been hard, since I operate better with consistency and I don’t make my own schedules very well. I would never be able to work from home for a living!

What is your biggest accomplishment in the last month?
I haven’t had big accomplishments in terms of PRs or reps, but I’ve discovered the necessity of moving my body during quarantine and how much it helps me feel better while being stuck at home.

How has Recursive changed your life?
While attending graduate school at UW, Recursive gave me the ability to form connections outside of the campus community and feel in touch with Madison on a more intimate level.

What advice do you have for people who are nervous to get started?
It’s possible to scaffold and adapt any workout to meet you where you’re at, and everyone else in the gym will be doing the same. In the end, you will all have gone through the same rigorous workout in your own way, and be equally accomplished!
