Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Sophie Sanchez, I am a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Kinesiology, and I am from St. Louis, Missouri. I have been doing CrossFit for about two years now, and I love it!
Why did you choose Recursive?
I chose Recursive because I wanted to continue to do CrossFit while I was at college.
What is your favorite thing about working out at Recursive?
From the first time I went to Recursive, I immediately felt so welcomed by everyone there. My favorite part about working out at Recursive is the sense of community and support from everyone. Being able to be surrounded by such amazing people has been wonderful!
What was the biggest struggle you’ve had the last few months?
Something I struggle with is time management and finding time to balance school work and outside commitments.
What is your biggest accomplishment since starting your commitment to a lifestyle change?
Since starting CrossFit, I have gained a whole new skill set and feel mentally stronger and physically stronger.
How has Recursive changed your life?
Recursive has given me a huge appreciation for how impactful and important physical activity is. It has made me realize that CrossFit can be adapted to fit every person’s needs and goals and that there are no limits to what you can accomplish. CrossFit is for everybody and every body.
What advice do you have for people who are nervous to get started?
Don’t be afraid to try something new! When I was going to my first CrossFit class, I was so nervous. I had the impression that CrossFit would be too hard for me and that I wouldn’t be fit enough or strong enough to be a part of it. I was so happy to learn that everyone is willing to help you and that you can modify any workout or movement to fit your goals.
What is something else fun you’d like to share about yourself?
My favorite barbell movement is squat cleans!
