Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I love biking and community fitness. I’m a video game developer by day so obviously getting away from the desk is important to me (health-wise). I’ve been an Art Director for 6 Call of Duty titles. I’m not a huge gamer but I am an art fanatic and art history buff. 20th century illustration, Spanish and Northern European painting I am especially big on.
Why did you choose Recursive?
It’s on my bike route! And the reviews solidified my decision to join. I do not regret it.
What is your favorite thing about working out at Recursive?
The coaches and group members are very friendly and laid back. The environment is friendly but equally competitive.
What was the biggest struggle you’ve had the last few months?
Always, always, always working to improve leg strength and knee stability. I envy everyone with sturdy legs!!! The Snatch, Thrusters and Overhead Squats are the most challenging exercises for me. I have every intention to take my own advice and pace myself.
What is your biggest accomplishment since starting your commitment to a lifestyle change?
I lost 30 pounds over Covid, completed a century ride on the bike last fall, and did 10 consecutive days of Murph in November which spurred my interest to join CrossFit. I also failed miserably at Friendly Fran which was a very humbling experience.
How has Recursive changed your life?
Too early to say, but I am extremely optimistic.
What advice do you have for people who are nervous to get started?
Pace yourself and listen to your body to avoid injury. You are only in competition with yourself.
What is something else fun you’d like to share about yourself?
I can list and label 90+% of all countries on the globe–I struggle with Southern Africa. Europe, the America’s, and Asia I know by heart; In addition, I know all capitals of the America’s and Europe. Would love to visit all of them but $ is a factor of course. I DID step foot into North Korea a few years back which is notable.
