Ashley started at the gym this fall through our 6 Week Intro to Fitness and Nutrition Program and she works just down the road!

What was the biggest struggle you had before signing up for the 6 Week Intro?
Getting into a healthy and sustainable gym routine. As a single mom who works two jobs, by the time I get home and feed my son, the gym seems like a far-fetched dream. Making myself a priority often seems selfish to me when I am responsible for another human.

What made you choose Recursive for your fitness and nutrition needs/goals?
I have always loved following CrossFit and have done a few onramp classes at other boxes but was honestly intimidated by the gym and the other members. Since my first meet with Nikole I have not felt that way, in fact the opposite. My one on ones have been super helpful and I was greeted with nothing but smiles and support from other members in my first class, I felts so much support by complete strangers.

What is the biggest thing you learned during those initial 6 weeks at the gym?
So far I have learned that I am horrible at jump rope! HA! Also that it takes self-confidence and a good support system to reach my goals, although I haven’t been to too many classes yet, I feel good about going to each class and like we are all there to support each other in our induvial goals, whatever they may be.

What are you most proud of so far?
Making in through the classes without dying AND being excited about the next time I get to make it to the gym.

What’s your favorite gym memory so far?
Doing all 20 rounds of the Death Row workout and that I have stuck to my nutrition plan, it feels good to be getting into a healthy routine that I enjoy and doesn’t make me dread each meal and each workout.
