Amanda has been active in many things, including CrossFit, for a long time! She joined Recursive a few years ago, and is always such a hard worker in every class and every workout she does. We love it when couples workout together – and Amanda and her husband Alexander use the workouts to help them bond!
Why did you choose Recursive?
I give my best in the gym so I want my gym to give and be the best as well. Recursive represents the best of what the fitness should be – it’s diverse in age, orientation, skin color, and background. It’s a great community!
What is your favorite thing about working out at Recursive?
We share in one another’s triumphs and work hard together and also share a lot of laughs.
What was the biggest struggle you’ve had the last few months?
I’ve been struggling with feeling worthy of the tremendous self-investment that Recursive-level fitness represents. With so many people suffering so much in the world currently, I felt disconnected from a space and environment so focused on self-growth.
What is your biggest accomplishment in the last month?
After 2 years of wrist issues including surgery and recovery, I am back to doing handstand push ups, cartwheels, and pressing 135 lbs over my head-feels amazing to feel like myself again.
How has Recursive changed your life?
I get to work out with my husband and our workouts together represent a unique way to bond as a couple and as best friends.
What advice do you have for people who are nervous to get started?
Is it going to be hard? Yes. Can you do it? Also yes. Is everyone around you in your class pulling for you? BIG YES!
What is something else fun you’d like to share about yourself?
I also compete in Strongman and do long distance running-which are completely opposite sports. Recursive helps keep me balanced, coordinated, and strong so that I can switch between a myriad of different sports without trouble.
