If you work outside of the gym, what do you do?
I’m a mechanical engineer.

Did you participate in high school or college sports (or after college)?
Played football and wrestled in high school and played every other sport imaginable growing up.

When and why did you start CrossFitting?
I started in 2013, because I missed the team atmosphere of sports and didn’t enjoy working out alone.

Why did you initially choose Recursive as an athlete?
Great location and seemed like a really good fit when I dropped in.

Why did you decide to become a CrossFit Coach at Recursive?
I really enjoy helping and encouraging people in the gym, and I’ve made enough mistakes of my own to be able to share a little experience.

What is your favorite thing about Recursive?
It’s a cliche, but the members & community. I love the events where we get a huge crowd. It highlights how supportive this community really is.

What is your favorite Recursive memory?
The Suffer with Friends workout (and subsequent social) in August 2020. In the middle of a chaotic pandemic year a ton of members supported my friend’s charity, for a cause that’s really important to me, by coming out for a workout in the parking lot that included devil lungesters, which were brand new and also completely terrible. They donated, they shared on social media, they brought their friends… I can’t really describe how much it meant. If that doesn’t speak to the community at Recursive I don’t know what does

What is one of your proudest Recursive Coaching moments?
Any PR that I slightly help with, even if that “help” is just yelling a lot. Also the number of members I’ve taught to Shotgun beers.

How has Recursive changed your life?
Recursive has given me an awesome community and a ton of great relationships after moving to a town where I knew literally no one.

What is something else fun you’d like to share about yourself?
I’ve had a lifelong goal to do a standing back flip so if anyone can teach me let me know!
