You probably have heard about CrossFit recently through social media, co-workers, or even overheard some people talking about it in public. Maybe you have even heard some of your friends talking about it when they are out in public.

There is a lot of things about CrossFit and it’s Founder Greg Glassman in the news lately. At Recursive we want to assure you that we do not agree with statements made or the way people have been treated.

Recursive has always been built on a supportive, inclusive community. One of our Core Values is providing a safe space for people to be. A community where we welcome everyone, but we require that everyone treat others with respect and dignity.

The name on our doors never really mattered, it is the people inside that make the community what it is. Whether we have the name “CrossFit” on our building or not, nothing inside our gym changes – our Recursive Community will stand together.

With all that being said, we want to give you a few things to consider when searching for a “CrossFit Gym Near me.” We want to help you pick the gym that will be the right fit for all of your fitness and nutrition needs.

Consider more than just price and location in your decision.

When choosing a gym, ingrained in our thinking is to choose based only on price and location. In my opinion a great gym with an awesome community is worth the extra 10-15 minute drive.

There is a social aspect in any great gym, so you want to find coaches and fellow athletes that you feel are similar to you.

All gyms are not created equal. Yes, some gyms can be expensive. Guess what…they can also be cheap. But you get what you pay for. So you need to ask yourself what you are looking for? Do you just want access to equipment and not much in the way of service or coaching?

If that is the case, then maybe the low price option is good for you. But if you are new to working out, I do not recommend this route. The movements can be complex so you will want extra coaching to make sure you’re doing them safely and correctly.

At Recursive, we pride ourselves on our client journey and helping people get off the couch and into the gym in a way that makes them feel safe and confident. We like to meet with each new person and get to know them and their goals and then help them decide which of our programs will be the best fit for them and their budget.

Do the “CrossFit Gyms Near Me” understand my Goals?

The most successful gyms should understand the wants, needs and desires of their members. The best gyms in the business understand that we are in the results business. This begins with a goal setting session when you first walk in. We call ours a No Sweat Intro.

The good gyms will ask you what your goals are. Is it to lose weight, gain strength, get toned, feel better in your skin? Do you want to lose 20 lbs? Are you training for a race or an event? Are you new to the area and looking for some like-minded people?

The great gyms will ask you WHY? Understanding your why is very powerful in setting any goal. Is it more than just losing weight? Does your family have a history of chronic disease such as heart conditions and high blood pressure? Do you want to get stronger so you can play with your grandkids? Are you using your fitness outside of the gym in activities like golf, swimming, kayaking, or hiking?

If no one sits down with you and talks to you about your goals and WHY then they don’t truly understand you.  And like Dale Carnegie said, “the deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.” You deserve to find a gym that appreciates you!

Do the “CrossFit Gyms Near Me” offer Nutrition Coaching? What about Remote Coaching and Other Services?

The best gyms in your area should offer Nutrition Coaching. Fitness is about a lot more than lifting heavy barbells and kipping pull ups. If you are looking for a gym, you obviously want to improve your fitness!

In any health and fitness routine, nutrition will be 80% of the results. We see it in our clients all the time! Those that do nutrition see 3.5x the results vs. those that exercise alone. People quit gyms when they aren’t seeing results. If you want the fastest route to results you need nutrition as well. Why not find a gym where you can get a one stop shop?

Do you want a “CrossFit Gym Near Me” or are you really searching for a “CrossFit Personal Trainer Near Me” or “Access to Gym Space and Equipment Near Me?”

If you are new to working out, I highly advise that you start in a 1-on-1 personal training environment or an on-ramp program of some sort. At Recursive, new people see the best results with our 6 Week Intro to Fitness and Nutrition Program, which includes everything you need to get you started the right way. We realize it can be intimidating and we want to make sure you are comfortable at the gym.

CrossFit is a training methodology. Group training and personal training is the avenue to which it is delivered to our members. We’d like to invite you to come in (or visit us virtually) so we can get to know more about you and your goals and see if we have programs that would fit your health and wellness needs!
